Service Description
This comprehensive course covers advanced navigation and meteorology at the only sailing club and RYA training centre in the City of London. Designed for professionals, this course spreads the syllabus over Wednesday evenings and fortnightly Saturdays, offering the perfect balance of classroom theory and social learning. THE SCHEDULE - 10 x Wednesdays (19:00 – 21:00): Focused evening sessions. The Club bar and dining room are open beforehand—perfect for a pre-class dinner. - 5 x Saturdays (09:30 – 16:30): Full day classes are held fortnightly to consolidate complex topics and sit exams. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN Building on Day Skipper knowledge, this course covers the techniques required to skipper safely on coastal and offshore passages by day and night: - Advanced Navigation: Position fixing, Estimated Position (EP), and electronic navigation. - Complex Tides & Weather: Secondary ports, tidal streams, and interpreting synoptic charts. - Planning & Safety: Pilotage, customs regulations, IRPCS (Collision Regs), and distress procedures. PREREQUISITES Candidates must hold RYA Day Skipper theory knowledge. INCLUDED IN YOUR BOOKING - The full RYA Student Pack (Charts, Almanac, Handbook) - Training Membership at the Little Ship Club for the duration of the course. GRADUATION & CERTIFICATE Upon completion, we host a special Tuesday evening celebration at the Club. RYA certificates will be presented by an RYA representative, followed by an opportunity to socialise with fellow students and Club members. Friends and family are welcome to join the celebrations.
